Town and Country Pest Control

Town & Country Pest Control is a pest control approach that uses a combination of common-sense methods which emphasise effectiveness over time and environmental sensitivity.

Your Town & Country Pest Control pest controller is trained to consider not just the short-term, quick fix to your pest problem: integrated pest management is not just about us killing your pest and moving on. Clearly we will stop the current problem quickly and effectively, but more importantly we will put steps in place to ensure that the problem does not reoccur.

From the moment we take your call we will consider the full lifecycle of your pest, and the environment in which the pest problem is occurring. We will look at a range of options including biological control, modification of habitat and culture, monitoring, physical methods and chemical methods.

Pesticides are used - but only after all non-chemical methods have been considered. We will then use the least toxic pesticide that is fit for the job.

When we arrive on site we will begin to approach your problem using a simple approach:

Survey

1. For many pests a visual survey is sufficient. For other pests a range of monitoring equipment and traps can be deployed. We will attempt to complete a survey as quickly as possible, but monitoring might take more than one site visit.
2. At this stage we will also be able to make an assessment of the environment. We will consider the overall habitat and any other wildlife within it, as well as the way humans interact with the habitat. This allows us to make recommendations for adaptations to working practices, adaptations to the building or landscaping, and ensures that we put management in place that does not act to the detriment of wildlife or people

Pest Identification

1. For larger pests this is relatively simple
2. For smaller pests we may have to complete this work using a microscope or hand lens and a set of technical charts - while this may take a little extra time it is important that the species is identified correctly

Control

1. Hygeine: we will discuss ways in which working practices and environments can be adapted to deny your pest harbourage and food.
2. Proofing: we will discuss a range of ways in which the environment can be proofed against further pest incursions. We normally recommend that a proofed building is supported by monitoring traps that can demonstrate if a new weakness has been found.
3. Environmental conditions: simple changes to reduce moisture and temperature can prevent a pest taking hold - this can be simply achieved in a warehouse environment
4. Chemical Control: we avoid the use of chemicals wherever possible, and will always select the least toxic pesticide to reduce the environmental impact of our work.. Chemical control will always be undertaken with health and safety in mind, and therefore may have to be undertaken in cleared buildings, when staff are absent.

The team at Town & Country Pest Control are registered members of the BPCA - the British Pest Control Association and carry full insurance.

Our main base is the West Midlands, serving Birmingham and Staffordshire. However, our network of controllers can operate nation wide, making us the ideal choice to manage several sites across the country.

Our Principal, Tim Worship, is an experienced game keeper, grounds man and tree surgeon. The Town & Country Pest Control approach, with its low environmental impact, is therefore very close to his heart.
